529 out of 1200 Muslims captured last August are sentenced to Death by the Egyptian Court, accused for killing a police officer and attempted to kill two more, other charges including violence, inciting murders, storming a police station and damage public and private buildings.
Said Sadek, political sociologist, said the sentence is an attempt from the state to reassert its authority to stop Egypt becoming a “second Libya.”
This is the largest death sentence in Egyptian history, and might be just a beginning for retaliation from Muslim Brotherhood, another 700 Muslims still on trial, schedule for next Tuesday .
